The event was strategically situated in the twisting hallways of the Union Theatre dressing rooms, providing the perfect setting for scare actors to lurk around every corner, ready to startle unsuspecting guests.
Collaboration and Commitment: Bringing the Haunted House to Life
Student Government partnered with Auxiliary Services to ensure the haunted house was a resounding success. This collaboration allowed for a greater pool of volunteers and resources, enabling the creation of a truly immersive and terrifying experience. Event organizer and director of student entertainment, Iyanna Robinson, was driven by a desire to provide an accessible and enjoyable activity for all students, particularly those living on or near campus.
Thrills and Chills Galore: Navigating the Haunted House
The haunted house was divided into five distinct rooms, each designed to elicit a different kind of fear and excitement. Guests were first greeted by a twisted carnival-themed room, complete with creepy clowns and a dim, eerie red lighting. As they ventured deeper, the sudden cries of a girl in doll makeup caught them off guard, setting the tone for the chilling experience to come.The graveyard-themed bathroom was a particular highlight, with the screams of guests ahead and behind echoing through the space. The crime scene room, strewn with caution tape, blood splatters, and an ominous body outline on the floor, featured a blood-covered woman who let out a bone-chilling scream when approached.The spider-infested dressing room proved to be a fan favorite, thanks to the deranged "Cat in the Hat" actor who crawled around the floor, adding an extra layer of unsettling terror. The haunted house concluded with an eerie, blood-covered bathroom, where a tiger awaited behind the door, ready to pounce on guests and deliver one final scare before their exit.
Laughter and Terror: The Haunted House Experience
Despite the overwhelming sense of fear and dread, the haunted house also managed to elicit laughter and delight from its attendees. The energy within the Student Union was palpable, as students eagerly anticipated the thrilling and spooky festivities.The haunted house was not the only Halloween-themed event hosted by the Student Union that week. On Halloween day, the union also organized a trick-or-treat event and a costume contest, with the winners to be determined through votes on the Student Union's Instagram page.Last year's costume contest winner dressed up as the know-it-all kid from the Polar Express movie, while honorable mentions included the ghosts of Greek Life and a "Star Wars"-inspired Sith Lord. These creative and imaginative costumes added to the overall spirit of the Halloween celebrations at LSU.
